video enhances the memories created during your family session
Why I’m Combining Video with Photography
Capturing Emotion, Movement, and Memory
By Elizabeth Lang Photography
There’s something so timeless about a still photo. A beautiful image you can frame, print in an album, or tuck into a keepsake box to revisit for years to come. It freezes a moment—your baby’s tiny toes, your child’s gap-toothed grin, the way your partner looked at you when you weren’t even trying to pose.
But what if you could feel that moment move again?
That’s where video comes in.
I’ve started offering blended sessions—photo and video together—because I want to help families hold on to more than just how life looked. I want to help you remember how it felt.

The Feeling Behind the Frame
A video can capture so many things a photo simply can’t:
The sound of your child’s laughter.
The way their curls bounce as they run across the yard.
The wobble of learning to walk.
The squeeze of a little hand around your finger.
The softness in your partner’s voice when they say your name.
These are the little pieces of life that pass by too quickly. And having them on film is like being able to step back into that moment—anytime you want.

What a Blended Session Looks Like
During your session, I capture the same relaxed, heartfelt images you know me for. But I’ll also film those real, in-between moments—the quiet interactions, the playful movement, the small gestures of love. You’ll walk away with beautiful stills you can print and display and a short video that tells your story in motion.
You don’t need to prepare anything extra. No need to act or perform. Just be with your family. Be yourselves. Let the magic of real life unfold—and I’ll do the rest. If anything adding in video gives you a chance to shake out the nerves, connect with your family and be in the moment and gives you a small break between posed shots.

Why It Matters
Years from now, you’ll look at a photo and remember a moment. Hopefully you will print your photos for an album and frame one for the wall. But with video, you’ll remember the way your child’s voice sounded when they were small. You’ll hear the wind in the trees during that walk through the forest. You’ll feel the warmth of your family wrapped around you again.
It’s not about making something perfect. It’s about remembering what was real.

Combining video with photography is more than just adding another product—it’s about deepening the story of your family. It’s about preserving love in all its forms: still and moving, quiet and wild, fleeting and forever.
If you’ve been thinking about booking a family session, I’d love to talk with you about adding video. It’s one of the most powerful ways to capture your life as it is right now—beautiful, imperfect, full of meaning.
Video may not fit with your session so speak with me if you would like to add video to your upcoming session!
With warmth,
Elizabeth
