A Newborn Photography Session with Video

There’s a quiet kind of magic that fills the room when a family welcomes their first baby. It’s a mix of awe, tenderness, and a love so full it almost stops time. That feeling was at the heart of Kaitlyn and Harry’s newborn session as they held their sweet baby girl, Pearl, for one of her first portraits.
This wasn’t just a session about photographs—it was about telling a story. Their story. And it was captured through both still photography and video, so they could hold on to not just how everything looked, but how it felt.
We spent the morning in my studio, with soft light spilling through the windows and baby Pearl wrapped in warmth and calm. There were peaceful moments, gentle touches, and so much quiet love between this new little family.
A Basket Full of Stories
One of the most special parts of the session was the woven family basket Kaitlyn and Harry brought with them. This basket has held many babies over the years—used by different family members to welcome their own little ones. It’s more than a prop; it’s a family heirloom. A symbol of generations loving and nurturing their children in the earliest days of life.
To place Pearl inside it—new, perfect, and so deeply loved—was an emotional moment. A continuation of a legacy. The kind of moment you want to remember forever.
Why We Chose to Film It
Along with the images they can print, frame, and share, I created a short film from the session. Because there’s something video gives you that photos alone can’t—the way Pearl stretched her fingers, the way Kaitlyn and Harry exchanged a look full of quiet joy and awe. You see the movement. You feel the emotion.
It’s those soft in-between moments that mean everything.
To Kaitlyn and Harry—thank you for bringing your story, your warmth, and your beautiful girl into my studio. Watching you begin your journey as parents was a joy, and I’m so honoured to have captured this first chapter for you.
