Welcome to Baby A: A Sweet Winter Newborn Session in Cloverdale
By Elizabeth Lang Photography – Surrey, near Vancouver
I always feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such special moments in my clients’ lives, and this winter, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Baby A and his wonderful family in Cloverdale. There’s something truly magical about photographing newborns, but when I have the chance to photograph siblings—and in this case, Baby A’s big sister, who I had the honor of photographing as a newborn too—it becomes extra special. Watching these families grow and being a part of their journey fills my heart with so much joy.
Baby A’s session was full of warmth, love, and a touch of whimsy. From his sleepy snuggles to the beautiful family moments, I’m excited to share a little bit about his session and the special details that made it so meaningful.

A Sweet Family Return
One of the things I love most about my work is seeing familiar faces return as their families grow. It’s such a joy to watch these little ones transform over the years, and Baby A’s session was no exception. His big sister, who I photographed as a newborn, was absolutely adorable as she posed with her baby brother and snuggled him in the sweetest way. Seeing her all grown up was a beautiful reminder of just how much time flies and how quickly our children grow!
When families come back for a second (or third!) session, it’s so meaningful for me to see the bond they share, how they’ve adjusted to their new family dynamic, and how much love has filled their home. Each session is a new chapter, and I’m beyond grateful to capture these moments that will become treasured memories for years to come.

Special Requests: Greens, Blues, and a Touch of Greenery
When we planned Baby A’s newborn session, his mom had a few specific ideas in mind. She wanted to create a soothing, natural feel for the photos, incorporating greens, blues, and greenery into the backdrop and props. The soft, earthy tones created the perfect atmosphere for a peaceful, intimate session, and I loved how it complemented Baby A’s sweet demeanor.
Mom's vision also included something particularly meaningful: she wanted to recreate a photo she had with her older daughter during her newborn session. It’s always such an honor when parents return with a specific vision for their second child, and recreating that meaningful moment was the perfect way to tie both sessions together.
We used blue and green hues, paired with subtle greenery, to create a calming environment that highlighted Baby A’s tiny features and natural beauty.

Sibling Moments: The First Photos with Big Sister
Capturing the relationship between siblings is always one of my favorite parts of newborn sessions. Big sister was absolutely beaming as she held her new baby brother. She was so gentle and sweet with him, and I loved seeing the connection between them grow right before my eyes.
It’s moments like these that remind me why family photography is so meaningful. These first interactions between siblings are precious, and they change so quickly as your children grow. Big sister’s smile and the way she gently held Baby A were so full of love, and I can only imagine how wonderful it will be for them to look back at these photos when they’re older.

Why These Sessions Are So Special
There’s something truly special about a newborn session, and I believe that part of its magic lies in the newness of it all. You have a new baby, a new chapter in your life, and so much love that it’s almost overwhelming. But for me, what makes these sessions extra special is the connection I get to witness between family members—the new parents, the older siblings, and the baby. It’s a beautiful reminder of how precious and fleeting these early moments truly are.
Photographing families as they grow is something I’ll always cherish. Each time I get to see these little ones again, I’m reminded of how fast time flies and how much joy these tiny moments bring. Baby A’s session was a perfect reflection of that love, and I can’t wait to see how this beautiful family continues to grow.

Conclusion: A Cherished Memory for Baby A and His Family
Thank you to Baby A and his wonderful family for trusting me to capture these moments. It was such an honor to photograph your little one, and it brings me so much joy to see how much your family has grown since our last session. From the gentle poses to the sweet sibling moments, every photo captured the love and warmth that surrounds you all. I look forward to watching Baby A grow and capturing even more memories with you in the future.
If you’re expecting a little one or have a growing family like Baby A’s, I would love to be part of your journey too. Let’s capture these special moments that will become lifelong memories!
