Welcome to the world David and Davian

David & Davian's Newborn Session: A Twin Photography Session with Sweet Baby Boys

By Elizabeth Lang Photography – Surrey, near Vancouver

There is something absolutely magical about newborn photography, but when it comes to capturing the sweet bond of twins, it takes on a whole new level of joy and wonder. I had the honor of photographing David and Davian, two beautiful little boys who were just days old during their newborn session. Twins bring such a unique energy and love to a session, and I’m so excited to share the stunning images from their time in front of the camera.

When I was talking to mom and dad during their session I found out that they discovered my Instagram page @elizabethmlangphotography because I was featured on a larger Twin page TM Twins and Multiples. The funny thing was that mom wasn't even pregnant but she dreamed of having twins. She followed the page because she just always wanted to be a twin mom. Well she fell pregnant with twins and that's how she found me!

This session was filled with soft, neutral tones and the most heartwarming moments. From the sweet sibling snuggles to the backlit parent poses that showcase the love and joy of mom and dad, every shot felt like a perfect representation of the warmth and connection that filled their home. Let’s dive into the details of their newborn session and what made it so special!

A Calm and Soothing Neutral Palette

When planning David and Davian’s session, their parents had a beautiful vision in mind—soft, serene, and neutral. We used plenty of white and green tones throughout the session, which perfectly complemented the natural beauty of these two little boys. Neutral colors in newborn photography are timeless and classic, ensuring that the focus stays on the babies, while also creating a peaceful atmosphere that highlights their tiny features.

The soft greens added a touch of warmth and earthiness to the session, evoking a sense of calm that matched the serenity of their newborn stage. White blankets and swaddles allowed their tiny faces and delicate features to shine, while simple, neutral props like wooden baskets and textured fabrics helped create a cozy, natural environment.

Sibling Snuggles: The Bond Between David & Davian

One of my absolute favorite parts of any newborn session is the sibling moments, and when it’s twins, the magic is doubled. David and Davian were so sweet as they snuggled up together—little hands reaching for each other, or lying peacefully side by side, they instantly showed the bond that makes them special. It’s amazing how even at just a few days old, these two seemed to understand that they were meant to be together.

Whether it was one twin nestled in a cozy blanket or the two boys sleeping peacefully in a pair of tiny props, the connection between them was palpable. These moments are always such a joy to capture, as they showcase a bond that will last a lifetime, one filled with shared experiences and memories.

Backlit Parent Poses: Highlighting the Love and Connection

A session like this wouldn’t be complete without capturing the deep love and pride that parents feel for their newborns. For David and Davian’s session, I focused on backlit parent poses, a technique that creates a soft, glowing light around mom and dad, emphasizing their love, joy, and connection. The subtle glow surrounding them adds a magical and intimate feel to the photos, giving them a dream-like quality that perfectly matched the emotion of the moment.

These backlit shots are designed to showcase the love between parents and their little ones, while softening any harsh lines or shadows. The result is a gentle, timeless photo that feels both candid and deeply personal.

Traditional Parent Poses: Cherishing the First Family Portraits

While the backlit shots created soft, ethereal portraits, we also made sure to capture some traditional parent poses with David and Davian. These are the classic, timeless shots that families will treasure for years to come. Whether it’s a close-up of parents gently cradling their newborns or the intimate connection of a quiet moment with their little ones, these photos are meant to reflect the love and care that surrounds them.

The beauty of these traditional poses lies in their simplicity and their ability to capture pure emotion. There’s something so special about seeing a mother and father gazing lovingly at their newborns for the first time, a moment that will forever be etched in their hearts—and in these photographs.

Why Newborn Photography is So Important for Twins

Photographing twins comes with its own set of challenges, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. With two newborns to focus on, every shot is a delicate dance of timing, patience, and attention to detail. But the reward is immense. Twins share a bond that is unique, and capturing the early days of that bond is something truly special.

Twins often grow at different rates, and their personalities begin to shine in different ways as they get older. Having these first photos is a way to preserve how they were in those first, precious days when they were just discovering the world around them together.

Plus, it’s so wonderful to watch these babies grow over time, and every time I see them, I’m reminded of just how special the bond between twins really is. As they start to reach milestones, those early moments when they’re just so tiny and perfectly matched are treasures to hold on to.

Conclusion: The Beautiful Beginning of David and Davian’s Journey

David and Davian’s newborn session was filled with tenderness, love, and beauty. From the calming neutral tones to the backlit parent portraits, this session perfectly captured the essence of their first days. I loved being able to create such timeless, meaningful photos for this family, and I can’t wait to watch David and Davian grow and develop their bond over the years.

If you’re expecting twins or have a growing family, I’d love to help capture the magic of your newborns’ first days. Whether it’s a soft, neutral session or something more vibrant, together we can create photos that reflect your family’s unique love story.
