What to Wear for Mommy and Me Minis 2025
By Elizabeth Lang Photography – Surrey, near Vancouver
I am so excited to share the details for this year’s Mommy and Me Minis 2025! The setup will be a minimalistic, dreamy space, featuring a soft white bed, a cream couch, natural brown tones, and a touch of greenery. The vibe for this session is cozy, relaxed, and full of warmth, so what you wear will play an important role in bringing everything together perfectly. Here’s a guide on what to wear for this year’s session to complement the soft, peaceful aesthetic.

Soft, Flowing Fabrics are Key
This year, I recommend choosing fabrics with movement and softness. Think cozy, breathable materials like linen, cotton, and soft knits. These fabrics create a relaxed, organic feel that matches the minimalist theme. Maxi dresses, flowy skirts, and loose-fitting tops work beautifully and add a sense of movement, making the photos feel natural and effortless. Ruffles and gentle pleats add texture and depth, which is perfect for this cozy vibe.

White, Cream, and Soft Neutrals with Earthy Tones
Since the set design this year will be mostly white with cream accents, you’ll want to choose clothing that blends beautifully with these neutral tones. White, cream, beige, and soft blush tones are your best friends. These colors will complement the backdrop and create a cohesive, timeless look that won’t distract from the most important part of the photo—you and your little one!
If you want a little more contrast, earthy tones like soft browns, tans, and muted greens can also work beautifully. These warm, grounded colors add richness to the images while still keeping the overall look natural and serene. Think soft brown cardigans, a cream dress with earthy-toned accents, or a green top paired with white skirts or pants. These tones bring an extra layer of warmth and complement the greenery in the set, creating a balanced and harmonious vibe.

Keep it Cozy and Casual—Avoid Formalwear
This session is all about capturing intimate, natural moments between you and your child, so we want to keep it casual and cozy. Skip the stiff, formal outfits like suits, polished shoes, or pressed slacks. Instead, think about clothing that you’d feel comfortable in at home—something you’d wear for a cozy family day. Barefoot is totally okay (and encouraged!), as it helps keep the atmosphere relaxed and unposed. A pair of simple sandals or bare feet will fit perfectly with the overall vibe.
Embrace Comfort and Stretch
We’re aiming for comfort and ease of movement, so choose clothing that moves with you. Think stretchy dresses, loose-fitting tops, or even a cute, oversized sweater paired with soft denim. Remember, this is a time to be yourself and bond with your child, so being able to move freely will make your photos feel more relaxed and genuine.

Subtle Accessories, but Keep it Simple
Since the set is minimalistic, avoid heavy or distracting accessories. Simple, dainty jewelry like small necklaces or earrings can add a touch of personal style without stealing attention from the moment. Hair accessories like a simple headband or a braid can also work, but keep things soft and subtle.
Mom and Child Coordination
When choosing outfits for both you and your child, think about coordinating colors and textures without being too matchy-matchy. For example, if you’re wearing a soft cream dress, consider putting your child in something white or cream as well, but feel free to play with the fabric choice. A little ruffle or a soft cotton romper for your little one will feel perfect for the look we’re going for.
For babies and toddlers, soft cotton onesies, simple dresses, or knit sweaters are perfect. Don’t forget to think about comfort for your little one as well—no itchy fabrics or tight waistbands, just soft and cozy options to keep them happy during the session. For young babies who are not walking as much, I suggest one piece outfits that don't ride up when you hold them. If you are doing a dress put a cute pair of bloomers or a diaper cover underneath.

Baggy Oversized Knits and Flowing Tops
For that effortless, cozy look, consider wearing baggy, oversized knitted sweaters or flowing tops. These pieces are perfect for creating a soft, laid-back vibe, adding an extra layer of texture to the photos. Pair these tops with comfortable jeans or a loose skirt to maintain that natural, relaxed aesthetic. The oversized, cozy look will enhance the comfort and intimacy of the session, making it feel like a casual family moment at home. The oversized sweater is in this season!

Final Thoughts: Let Comfort and Love Shine Through
Ultimately, the best thing to wear is whatever makes you feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful. This session is all about capturing those loving, tender moments with your child, so choose outfits that reflect your personal style and the joy of the moment. The soft, neutral palette of this year’s set will provide a serene and timeless backdrop for those sweet memories, and your clothing choices will help tell the story of this special time in your life.
